This is my first
Swing Knitting project make from Workshop 1. I used miscellaneous leftovers (Ella Rae worsted, Mini Mochi, Mochi Plus, Fun Fur) for the colors and the
Lion Chenille Sensations Mocha for the pauses (swing knitting terminology), using a #7 needle and knitting the taupe mostly in garter stitch. I love the result and so far no worming. Interesting wristlet, no? Since the caston for the wristlet in a laceweight was the same number of stitches as the caston for the vest with the chenille and the needles I'd chosen, I could use the wristlet instructions for the vest. The wristlet is a series of rectangles. A vest is a series of rectangles, with armholes and I'd cross the armhole bridge when I came to it. I love the way it turned out. It looks shaped, but I did NO shaping, it's just rectangles in gauge that makes it somewhat stiff. I think the swing knitting adds a little bit of bias. The rectangles under the arms don't have the full "stanzas" of the body rectangles so they are more of a trapezoid, which gives some shaping. Working with the concepts it pretty obvious that the "pauses", a strip of unpatterned knitting separating "stanzas", could be used for shaping. I notice that
Ravelry says this yarn is "not suitable for knitting". They are right. Too bad I didn't know that before I bought the yarn in Stillwater, OK.
